R&D Lab Technician – Marysville, MI

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently recruiting for a qualified temporary R&D Lab Technician position in Marysville, MI. The need to fill this role is immediate.

Summary:
TheR&D Technician is a member of a Product Development Team.  Each Product Development Team is responsible for a set of projects that may focus on the development of new tape structures or assisting production personnel in solving processing problems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Pilot work
  • To compound or obtain adhesives, primers and release coating employed in pilot runs.
  • To prepare finished product on the pilot line.
  • To conduct standard and any end-use performance testing of pilot product. 
  • To conduct standard and any end-use performance testing of experimental production product.
  • Report the findings of all testing in a standardized report format.
  • Formulation Work
  • Prepare formulation spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Order and/or gather the raw materials necessary (e.g. adhesives, primers, release coatings, backings) for conducting pilot runs. 
  • Additional Tasks
  • Publish a written weekly summary of work to the Product Development Manager.
  • Utilize electronic information databases to conduct information searches.
  • Actively participate in the weekly product development team meetings to update the Product Development Manager on the status of project work.
  • Document all process data and observations in detail in a laboratory notebook or in Word documents that are entered into an electronic database. 
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments, as per ISO instructions, on a monthly basis.
  • Actively supports all Safety programs and initiatives.
  • Displays support of 5S housekeeping programs.
    Qualifications/Education/Skills:
    • Associates Degree or higher with an emphasis in Science.  A strong math and/or chemistry background is a plus.
    • Innovative, organized self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
    • Collaborative interpersonal style with experience in working on project teams.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    Pay/Hours:
    • $21-22/hr and Monday-Friday, 8AMEST – 430PMEST.
