Summary
We are seeking an R&D Technical Director to lead product development and sales support for powder coating systems in the General Industrial Division. This role fosters a customer-centric culture and collaborates with Sales, Marketing, and Global Supply Chain to drive business growth and efficiency.

This individual is required to sit in the greater Minneapolis, MN area. Relocation assistance is available for out-of-town candidates.

Candidates must have 10+ years of industry experience in the development of formulated coatings, plastics, inks products, and polymer development or materials science (including intellectual property management) in order to qualify for consideration.

Responsibilities
- Lead product development and sales support for powder coatings in the NA region.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to secure new business and maintain customer relationships.
- Oversee growth initiatives and manage intellectual property.
- Partner with Purchasing and Product Management on raw material selection and cost-saving projects.
- Coordinate global technical activities to align with strategic plans.
- Establish external technology partnerships for regional advantages.
- Drive resource efficiency and organizational capability.
- Promote safety practices in laboratories.
- Manage cross-functional relationships and facilitate strategic initiatives.
- Cultivate a customer-focused, innovative workplace.
- Ensure teams meet technology and service goals.
- Oversee talent management and employee development.

Required Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the country of application.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 10+ years of experience in coatings or polymer development.
- Proven experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong strategic, leadership, and communication skills.
-Travel Requirements: domestic and international travel are required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical software.
- Knowledge of IP management and polymer resins.

Job Details
- Type: full-time, direct-hire (permanent)
- Target pay rate: $140,000-$190,000/year base salary
- Full benefits, bonus eligible, stock options, relocation assistance
