Title: Research Scientist
Salary: $60-70,000 + Benefits 
Location: Lenexa, KS

Experience

  • Operating, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Conducting testing and following procedures
  • Documenting results
  • Handling of chemical reagents
  • Processing, handling and disposal of biohazardous materials and clinical specimens
  • Writing standard operating procedures and study-specific work instructions
  • Writing development and validation plans
  • Reviewing process of validation documentation: protocols and reports
  • Establishing timelines and priorities
  • Conducting training in instrument operations, testing procedures and theoretical background
  • Designing high-parameter panels for flow cytometry
  • Advanced level experience in flow cytometry acquisition and data analysis software
  • Performing daily setup and calibration of flow cytometers
  • Processing and staining samples for flow cytometry
  • Acquiring samples on a flow cytometer
  • Designing flow cytometry data analysis templates
  • Statistical evaluation of validation data
  • Reviewing and monitoring assay performance and identifying trends
  • Identifying and troubleshooting assay issues
  • Reviewing and monitoring instrument performance and identifying trends
  • Identifying and troubleshooting instrument issues
  • Cell culture experience, a plus
  • Experience leading a team, a plus
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment, a plus
  • Strong record of scientific publications, a plus
  • Strong record of scientific presentations, a plus

Requirements
  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in degree in related field. Advanced degree preferred, in microbiology, immunology, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field
  • Bench-level research or clinical laboratory experience
  • Strong writing skills: Ability to prepare clear written instructional documents (SOPs, assay development and validation plans); Ability to prepare clear validation and study reports
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong teaching skills: Ability to provide clear instructions on theoretical background and sample processing.
  • Ability to interact effectively and work efficiently in a Team
  • Keenly attentive to detail
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs
  • High level of hands-on proficiency in operating a flow cytometer
  • High level of proficiency in flow cytometry instrument and data analysis software packages
  • Advanced understanding of the current trends in flow cytometry
  • High level of proficiency statistical data analysis software packages, a plus
