Mechanical Engineer 
Long Term Contract Position
Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting up lab equipment, tools, and prototype materials
  • Preparing assembly areas for specific prototype builds
  • Procuring parts for projects
  • Assembling robots, including mechanical structures, electro-mechanical components, and wiring harnesses
  • Tracking work-in-progress (WIP) and finished projects
  • Taking instructions from engineers to assemble prototype devices
  • Providing feedback on assembly processes to improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Collecting data on components and finished goods for engineers
  • Troubleshooting down to the component level
  • Executing complex, detailed test procedures and obtaining mechanical measurements with minimal supervision

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly and testing of consumer electronics or industrial grade components
  • Ability to read and understand component and assembly drawings
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and working across teams
  • Experience planning and maintaining lab facilities for optimal efficiency
  • Ability to develop new processes when necessary
  • Experience with lab safety, security, and quality practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree (AS) in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience assembling electro-mechanical devices and systems (e.g., consumer electronics, robots, computers)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics
  • Experience using hand and power tools for assembly
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for defective devices
  • Soldering experience with small components on printed circuit boards
  • Ability to use digital multimeters and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting
  • Experience performing device-level functional tests
  • Ability to set up test stations, conduct tests, and collect relevant data
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel
  • Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions, production drawings, and sample assemblies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience organizing and maintaining calibrated stocks of critical test equipment
