Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) - Molecular Diagnostics

Our client, a leading global diagnostics company, is seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join their mission-driven team in San Diego, CA. Location: San Diego, CA
Employment: Direct Hire, Full-Time, Onsite
Shift: 2nd Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 12:30pm-9:00 pm
Shift Differential: 15% shift differential for Sunday
Hourly Range: $54.00-$63.00/hr. (Depending on experience)

Job Responsibilities

  • Clinical Testing: Independently perform high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing (e.g., PCR, microarray, NGS) in strict accordance with CLIA, SOPs, and quality management systems.
  • Quality & Compliance: Accurately document all QC activities, maintenance, calibrations, and corrective actions. Participate actively in proficiency testing and inspection readiness.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for troubleshooting routine and complex assay/instrument issues.
  • Process Improvement: Lead initiatives focused on workflow optimization, efficiency gains, turnaround time (TAT) improvements, and cost-saving efforts.
  • Training & Development: Train and assess the competency of testing personnel. Support the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Validation: Contribute to assay validation projects and support the expansion of the laboratory's capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with QA, Data Management, Client Services, and Clinical Research teams.
Job Requirements:
  • License: Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license is mandatory.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, physical, or clinical lab science (or qualifying equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience as a licensed CLS in a high-complexity molecular clinical laboratory setting.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technological skills.
  • Professionalism: Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Highly Preferred
  • Extensive experience with high-complexity molecular methods, such as PCR, microarray, Sanger sequencing, and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
