Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Syracuse, NY (Remote)
Employment Type: 1 yr-Contractor 8-5, M-F
Rate of Pay: $55/hr.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our HVAC Segment Controllership team, based in Syracuse, NY. This contractor role supports the Operational Accounting Management Team and plays a key role in monthly financial closings, account reconciliations, and inventory accounting. This individual will also participate in various strategic projects and audits. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, analytical acumen, and a proactive mindset to help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform light clerical duties within the accounting function including typing, matching payments, checking purchase orders, preparing bank deposits, and routine calculations
- Support monthly financial statement closing, including preparation of journal entries and collaboration with team members
- Prepare month-end account reconciliations and analyze key balance sheet accounts and reserves
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable tasks and support bank reconciliation functions
- Research and resolve customer inquiries, issues, and complaints related to accounting processes
- Perform and validate financial transactions to gather primary data for accounting records
- Support inventory accounting processes such as LIFO, Profit-in-Inventory Eliminations (PII), Tariffs, Consignment, Excess & Obsolete (E&O), Physical Inventory, and Shipped Not Billed (SNB)/Warehouse Cutoff accruals
- Assist with SOX compliance and internal/external audit requests
- Participate in the testing and implementation of cross-functional strategic initiatives impacting operational accounting
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 8+ years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Experience with SAP and HFM
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Highly organized and attentive to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
