Sterilization & Environmental Monitoring Manager (Hybrid) - Valencia, CA
 
Summary 
This role oversees all quality-related activities to ensure product sterility and effective environmental monitoring for implantable devices. The Manager develops and implements sterilization strategies, manages environmental monitoring programs, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires leadership in managing teams, projects, and audits related to sterilization and environmental controls.

  • Pay rate: $95,000 - $130,000 DOE
  • Shift: Hybrid (3 days in office/week); day shift
  • Duration: Direct-hire (permanent position)
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop sterilization strategies and ensure proper testing and deployment of new sterilization equipment.
  • Establish standardized processes for sterilization and environmental monitoring.
  • Ensure manufacturing environments (air, surfaces, process water) are controlled and monitored for implantable device production.
  • Develop and validate reprocessing instructions for surgical tools.
  • Monitor product cleanliness (bioburden, bacterial endotoxins) to ensure sterility and safety.
  • Generate compliance reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Manage CAPAs, non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement in processes.
  • Assess updates to external standards and their impact on sterilization and environmental monitoring processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during internal/external audits and inspections.
  • Mentor and coach team members, managing their development through objectives and performance plans.
  • Oversee audits of key suppliers for sterilization and environmental monitoring services.
  • Manage consultants and ensure the successful completion of projects aligned with company objectives.
 
Qualifications 
  • BS in Microbiology or equivalent; additional certifications in sterilization preferred.
  • Leading technical teams in sterilization and/or environmental monitoring.
  • 3-5 years of management experience in a GMP cleanroom environment preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project.
  • Experience with Agile PLM, SAP, and/or statistical software (e.g., Minitab) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GMP documentation.
