Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Toolmaker for a direct hire opportunity with a client in Downers Grove, IL. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.

$40.00- 42.00 per hour
Monday-Friday - Days

Overview 
 
This client makes advanced electromechanical systems for aerospace and military customers. You'll find their products in commercial space satellites, launch vehicles, and government programs.
 
As a Toolmaker, you'll machine and build or repair jigs & fixtures, make repairs to dies, sharpen cutting tools using manual and CNC machines.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and machine parts from engineering (CAD) drawings, hand sketches, and verbal instructions
  • Check work using precision measuring tools & equipment
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Manual machining using Lathes, Mills, Drill press, Saws, Grinders
  • Surface grinding
  • Ability to dress forms on grinding wheels
  • Sharpen/modify production tooling § Carbide grinding
  • CNC vertical machining center - Program, set-up, & run
  • CNC toolroom lathe - Program, set-up, & run
  • Wire EDM - set-up & operate
  • Hole Drilling EDM (hole pop) – set-up & operate
  • Punch press set-up and debug (small single station dies with low volume)
  • Grind/sharpen punches & dies
  • Modify dies as needed
  • Repair dies as needed
  • Jigs and fixtures - Build & repair
    Qualifications:
  •  10 years+ relevant tool & die experience OR manual and CNC machining experience
  • Aerospace/defense or prototype experience a plus
  • Formal apprenticeship certificate or NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certificate/s a plus.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, must be able to provide proof of US citizenship
