Description

Kelly Services is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Transportation Logistics Coordinator to join our client's team in Markham. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and routing inbound and outbound shipments—both domestic and international—to ensure goods and materials are moved efficiently, on time, and at optimal cost.

Location: Markham, ON
Pay Rate: $29/hour + 4% vacation pay

Assignment Type: 1-year contract through Kelly Services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and route inbound and outbound domestic and international freight shipments.
  • Coordinate with carriers and proactively follow up through the shipment process.
  • Research and monitor transportation methods, rates, and routes.
  • Analyze transportation planning opportunities to reduce costs; track and report savings.
  • Ensure accuracy of purchase orders and bill of lading information.
  • Review and calculate orders in the system to enable timely releases in line with customer shipping standards.
  • Identify orders for consolidation.
  • Monitor orders from start to finish to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Provide support and information to internal customers concerning orders/shipments.
  • Coordinate with carriers and audit freight bills.
  • Negotiate and execute transportation service agreements and contracts for all transportation modes.
  • Assist in developing programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges.
  • Evaluate past performance and cost of transport.
  • Compile data and statistics for monthly and carrier performance reports.
  • Prepare and negotiate transportation-related claims.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of transportation logistics experience required.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international shipping practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and agreements with carriers for multiple transportation modes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to audit, analyze, and report on carrier performance and transportation costs.
