Sr. Test Engineer (Cincinnati, Ohio) Our client, a global leader in the medical device industry, surgical solutions, is currently hiring a Test Engineer. Position is a new role due to growth, client's internal team is on a hiring freeze, until lifted, role will be a fully benefited Kelly Engineering Consultant.
Job Summary: The Sr. Test Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and performance of products by analyzing test protocols for new and existing products, collaborating cross-functionally, and driving continuous improvement in test methodologies within the highly regulated medical device environment.   Both domestic and international travel may be required, typical work-related travel assignments range 2–5 days, travel will be less than 15%.   Role is responsible for leading design verification and validation (V&V) activities in support of New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Engineering projects. This includes independently planning and executing test strategies, developing advanced test systems and methods, designing and fabricating complex fixtures, performing testing, and analyzing and reporting results to ensure product performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Position requires technical authorship and ownership of V&V deliverables, mentorship of junior team members, and active leadership in process improvement and cross-functional collaboration. In addition, this role will act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead small projects with manageable risk and scope.   Essential Functions (Accountabilities / Responsibilities): Test Planning and Strategy, Test Method and Fixture Development, Test Execution and Reporting, and also problem Solving and Learning. Applies engineering principles to complex technical challenges and drives root cause analysis and design iteration. Partner with cross-functional design and project engineers to define product performance requirements and identify optimal test and analysis methodologies. Independently develop and manage comprehensive V&V test plans aligned with product requirements and project timelines. Prioritizes and manages own workload and leads technical planning and prioritization of V&V activities across multiple projects to meet project milestones and deliverables. Develop advanced mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and simulated-use test methods using a wide range of lab tools and equipment. Independently design, develop, fabricate and validate complex test fixtures and setups. Leads GR&R test method validations. Authors and executes detailed test protocols for verification and validation activities. Coordinates and leads testing performed by outside laboratories and vendors. Performs in-depth data analysis and statistical analysis; prepares and submits comprehensive V&V reports with clear conclusions, technical justifications and rationales, and design recommendations. Leads failures investigations and collaborates with project teams to identify design solutions. Identifies and implements improvements in V&V processes, tools, and lab capabilities. Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians. Collaborates effectively across engineering, quality, and regulatory functions to support project goals and ensure alignment. Promotes a collaborative, safety-conscious, and quality-focused lab environment. Participates in design reviews, risk assessments, and strategic project planning activities.   Required Skills/Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a regulated industry (preferably medical devices). Demonstrated ownership of test development, execution, analysis and reporting, with ability to lead technical activities independently. Clear evidence of problem-solving and innovation in test engineering. Experience leading small projects and mentoring junior team members. Proficiency in mechanical testing, fixture design, and statistical analysis.   Education: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
