Description

The Warehouse Operator is a key role primarily responsible for the timely and efficient flow of materials through the warehouse and in the dockyard to support ship maintenance activity. Manual and automated functions include but will not be limited to the processing of receipts, shipping requirements, inventory control related tasks and material routing functions to/from the dockyard for maintenance work. 

 This role is being actively recruited for with a targeted start date.

Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility 

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the effective and timely execution of logistic activities.?This function shall strive to provide an uninterrupted flow of goods and/or services required by the organization; 

  • Receiving - verify & inspect incoming material & documentation, unpack and process receipts, track shipments; 

  • Shipping – prepare and package outgoing freight; complete documentation and labelling; 

  • Issue, pick, package & move material; kit and stage spares for distribution & for customer delivery; 

  • Put away, locate and store inventory in designated & approved storage areas IAW applicable statutory regulations; 

  • Inventory control functions including cycle counting and physical inventories; 

  • Accurate and timely data entry into the Inventory Management System to update material activity and status; 

  • Maintain registers for incoming and outgoing material; 

  • Operate material handling equipment (MHE); load/unload transport vehicles & containers; 

  • General daily housekeeping to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the work areas; 

  • Other duties as assigned by Management; 

  • Works proactively with the team to enhance performance of the Function; 

  • Becomes knowledgeable about company policies/procedures and continually monitors day-to-day activities for compliance; 

  • Supports activities to ensure compliance with ISO series quality accreditation and Defense regulatory requirements; and 

  • Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant Thales policies. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Minimum 1- 2 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a warehouse environment; 

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and work autonomously, 

  • Previous experience using SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; 

  • Able to prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines; 

  • Open minded and able to listen, share ideas while bringing added value / capturing innovation; 

  • Excellent communication and people skills; 

  • Familiarization with Occupational Health, Safety & Environment policies & procedures 

All applicants must be able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and ITAR. 

Preferred Qualifications 

·?Grade 12 minimum with warehouse operations experience; 

·?Material management software systems experience and previous experience in the Defense Industry an asset.? 

Physical Demands 

This role will be physically demanding with the requirement to lift up to 22kg/50lbs and walk or stand for the majority of the working shift.
