Wastewater Lab Technician
The Wastewater Lab Technician position is responsible for assisting operations to maintain the chemistry needed for wastewater treatment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete testing of customer wastewater samples
- Perform calculations associated for the test results
- Perform jar tests to refine coagulant dosage
- Enter samples, test results etc. into data management system, review and validate results
- Communicate status of testing samples to Supervisors and Laboratory staff.
- Proficiency in performing manual titrations.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in laboratory work areas and store hazardous materials in the proper locations and dispose of hazardous waste properly.
- Work with Applications Laboratory personnel to investigate any analysis issues.
- Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9000 standards.
- Inspect tanks using the appropriate method
- Examine samples to verify qualities such as clarity, cleanliness, and consistency
- Maintain logs of instrument readings, test results, shift production and/or preventive maintenance schedule for entry in computer databases.
- Train new operators as needed
Required Skills/Abilities
- HS Diploma required degreed preferred
- Familiarity working knowledge of UV/VIS Spectrophotometers, HPLC Instrumentation, and pH Meters Working knowledge of gravimetric assays.
- Ability to create standard curves on a UV/VIS spectrophotometer Equipment operation- or at least competency to understand how the equipment functions
- Working knowledge of computer and office software: Excel, MS Word High
- Attention to detail
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative, team-building relationships.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Basic calculations
Job Details
- Contract-to-Hire
- Monday-Friday, 8-5pm
- Pay rate $22-24 per hour dependent upon level of education and experience
