Contract to begin:  School year 2025-2026 - 213 day contract

Salary:  $114,429 - $123,350 DOE

Required Qualifications:
Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years administrative experience, at similar and comparable school, preferably including curriculum development, correspondence programming and blended learning.  Knowledge and experience in ANAI cultural learning activities, standards-based education, place and project-based learning, elementary and secondary school curriculum (including CTE), student attendance, management, and discipline skills. Must possess knowledge of State and District regulations and policies regarding charter schools and correspondence programs. Knowledge, experience, training, and certifications related to social emotional learning and behavior wellness.

Description of Position:
This position provides leadership, administrative oversight, and responsibilities for correspondence and in person learning. In addition to the traditional responsibilities of an elementary/secondary school principal, administrative responsibilities at Knik Charter include work unique to charter schools. These include working with the governing body, managing the full operating budget, working with the site owner in managing facilities and working with the Knik Tribe's Benteh STEAM academy.
 
Knik Charter School Information:
458 N Shoreline Dr Wasilla, AK 99654.  Knik Charter School serves students in grades K-12, with a projected enrollment of approximately 300 students.  
 
Knik Charter School is seeking:
An administrator who can demonstrate the highest level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and commitments in the following administrative standards:

  • Oversees and in consultation with the APC guides the development and implementation of Knik Charter's educational program, APC bylaws, and student handbook
  • Engages the school and community with partnership activities including events and training to strengthen and foster positive relationships. Regularly attending school community events including Title I nights and school culture nights.
  • Is focused on curriculum and staff development to meet the unique goals of KCS
  • Supervises daily operations
  • Assigns staff additional responsibilities such as Assessment Coordinator, Digital First Responders, Battle of the Books coordinator, Parent engagement coordinator, Geography/Spelling Bee Coordinator, and other roles as needed
  • Assists and verifies staff has completed mandated training and school safety drills 
  • Provides reports to APC during their regularly scheduled meetings regarding the school's operations, including the school's designation by the State of Alaska's assessment system
  • Attends meetings at District Administration as needed
  • Develops draft budget for APC approval and monitors ongoing implementation of the budget throughout the year
  • Provides audit reports on year-to-date budget expenditures verses the planned budget
  • Oversees preparing of all reports required by the district administration including enrollment and budget reports
  • Approves purchase orders and parent reimbursements
  • Prepares written evaluations of certified and classified staff
