At Kraton, we make a Positive Difference, and we are looking for individuals who are also looking to make a difference in their jobs, for our customers and to the world.  We are looking to hire a key member of ou Operations team at our Belpre, Ohio location. 

 

This Mechanical Inspector/Reliability Engineer will report administratively to the Rotating Equipment Discipline Focal Point at the Belpre site.  

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical direction to planners, field supervisor and craftsmen for work on complex industrial machines as well as assisting with troubleshooting.
  • Develop equipment PM and repair procedures as needed based on OEM recommendations.
  • Maintains documentation including maintenance equipment files, SAP PM/MM data and various discipline related databases.
  • Write SAP notifications for work activities being initiated by the reliability group.
  • Assist operators and production team with equipment troubleshooting as requested and provides guidance as to how equipment should be operated to avoid process safety incidents and premature failures.
  • Identifies equipment problems and recommends improvements or procedural changes.
  •  Drive fact-based problem solving.
  • Ensure that appropriate spare parts are stocked for mechanical equipment based on Criticality and reliability strategy.
  • Assure that adequate and complete SAP maintenance history records are being maintained.
  • Perform fact-based risk assessments to identify equipment repair and overhaul needs.
  • Develop cost effective PM strategies for mechanical equipment and document recommend intervals, scope and procedures to accomplish this work.
  • Communicates multi-year forecast of mechanical equipment PM for unit turnaround planning and budgeting. 
  • Validates, communicates and tracks to closure, recommendations from oil and vibration analysis programs.
  • Prepares detailed inspection reports, RCA or 5 Why, for significant or repeat failures and communicates recommendations
  • Acts as originator and team leader of MOC's for mechanical discipline related changes and provides mechanical review for all MOCs.
  • Resolves technical discrepancies in material descriptions and non-conformances.
  • Implement plant identified equipment best practices and discipline initiatives in assigned units.
  • Champions and participates in reliability improvement projects.
  • Track and eliminate bad actors within the plant.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of field experience with mechanical equipment such as pumps, mechanical seals, mechanical drives ect. in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong technical skills in areas like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), data analysis, and specific industry standards or software
  • Familiar equipment specifications i.e., API & ANSI
  • Have a hands-on solid working knowledge of mechanical equipment repair techniques as well as a good understanding of troubleshooting methods
  • Experience and understanding with different reliability and predictive tools such as vibration data collection and analysis, ultrasound equipment, lubrication techniques and monitoring
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment with excellent interpersonal, communication and team-based skills
  • Able to facilitate and implement improvements with a disciplined approach to standards and procedures
  • Good display of key virtues/values such as Safety, Ownership, Integrity and results driven. While also displaying humility
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills to collaborate with teams and present findings
  • Proficient with SAP, WORD & EXCEL
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis
Education, Certifications & Licenses
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
