Position Summary: This position is responsible for the overall facility operation during their shift including raw fruit receiving, processing, packaging, storage, shipping, overseeing, and directing off hour's maintenance, QA department and shift employees.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Role in Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Shift Supervisor is responsible for training hourly employees in understanding the Food Safety program and SQF guidelines that apply to their area.
  • Enforce HACCP and GMP requirements.
  • Create a culture that focuses on producing Safe, Quality Food

 

  1. Product, Quality & Yield
  • Direct and oversee the processing plant and employees to ensure that all products are produced within the desired customer specification and quality expectations.
  • Ensure that all HACCP and GMP procedures are complied with as directed by the QA and Plant Manager
  • In conjunction with the QA Supervisor, Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, maximize yield and sugar solids recovery in all areas.  Ensure that losses due to lack of operator training, poor plant maintenance and out-of-specification product are controlled to the agreed level.

 

  1. Plant Efficiency
  • Consistently achieve the agreed plant efficiency, measured as Tons per Day, number of employees to achieve this and over-time hours worked.

 

  1. Personnel and Training
  • Efficiently manage both people and process and mold the two into an efficient, productive operation.        
  • Communicate effectively with all personnel.
  • Lead by example.
  • In conjunction with the Plant Manager & HR Manager, handle employee problems, training, and remedial actions.

 

  1. Occupational Health & Safety
  • Provide training to crew in health and safety areas.  
  • Lead in hazard identification and correction, formal accident and near-miss reporting and accident investigation.
  • Provide first-aid in the event of an accident.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of the Production Supervisor position.  Any disabled applicant or incumbent who does not meet one or more of the requirements, but who can perform the essential function of the job (with or without reasonable accommodations) shall be deemed to meet these requirements.

  1. Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours during a shift minus breaks and lunch.
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid and/or cold conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders, and crawl in tight and awkward workplaces for long periods of time.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  1. Non-Physical Requirements
  • Education:

            Bachelor's degree preferred.  High school diploma required.

  • Experience:

Three years' experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Experience leading and developing others required.

2-3 years' experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.

  • Customers
  1. Internal Relationships:
  • The Production Supervisor must interact and communicate effectively with all employees of the organization.  Effective communication is especially important with the Plant Manager and QA Supervisor.
  1. Direct & Indirect Reports:
  • All employees of the shift report to the shift supervisor.

  • Production Supervisor position will be backed up by the other Production Supervisor.
