POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Document Control Specialist reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is based out of our Hendersonville, North Carolina location. This individual will be responsible for the receipt, maintenance, archive, retrieval, and distribution of all quality-related documentation required to complete the scope of work in both hard copy and electronic formats. Assists with file migrations, coordinate sample requests, release of materials, audits, and performs administrative tasks as needed.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Processes and tracks to completion, and change control requests, including maintaining the files and tracking logs. 
  • Manages and maintains documents which includes preparing and processing quality documents for revision and approval
  • Review process control records, coordinates efforts with cross functional teams to ensure that the most current and accurate information is available for the SQF Practitioner to review, also coordinates reporting of food safety and quality control metrics, and finished product specification compliance
  • Ensure compliance to applicable food safety, customer, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and manage monthly, quarterly, annual quality programs 
  • Review of Recording Charts and Support customer requirements for process compliance with HACCP/PC requirements and other regulatory and internal standards
  • Review of Vendor Certificate of Compliance, testing, and release of incoming material in compliance with internal requirements.
  • Support customer requirements for sample runs
  • Daily review of production schedule and coordination with cross functional teams for quality support.
  • Support the Quality Systems Supervisor and SQF Coordinator in verification activities of sanitation performances, GMP compliance
  • Support customer, regulatory and 3rd party Quality and Food Safety audits
  • Additional Quality/Food Safety projects assigned by Quality Systems Manager
  • Support with investigation to find the root causes when Food Safety/Quality issues occur as directed by Quality Systems Manager or Supervisor.

  • Cross train with other Quality technicians to serve as back up when needed. 
  • This role will be required to taste test products as needed, up to a couple of ounces per test.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • PCQI Certification (or the ability to attain the certification)
  • Minimum 2 years of work-related experience
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Database management – QAD experience a plus
  • Experience conducting basic laboratory tests
  • Professional demeanor and a willingness to work as part of a team
  • Quality experience or knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailed oriented and can multi-task
  • Excellent time management skills

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry 
  • Experience in Manufacturing or production environment 
  • Ability to direct, coach, and train others.
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

 

FREQUENT:  Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility.  Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

 

OCCASIONAL:  Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using the LOTO program.  Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

 

VISION:  Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction.  Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

 

HEARING:  Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.  Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
