PAY INCENTIVES:

  • Sign-On Bonus: $2,500, payable during the pay period following successful completion of 90 days of continuous employment

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Sanitation Supervisor reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is based out of our Hendersonville, NC location. This individual supervises all sanitation operations, food safety, and plant quality procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, productive, and positive work environment. This person consistently directs, coaches, trains, and gives performance feedback to sanitation employees. All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations, and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA) and food safety and food quality (FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and monitor a cleaning routine plan for daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation (Master Cleaning Schedule) in all parts of the plant
  • Develop and implement all sanitation-related procedures and audits to make sure procedures are followed
  • Manages schedules to support CIPs
  • Ensures compliance with cleaning routine plan by utilizing routine observation, monthly walk-through inspections, reporting and distribution, and tracking of open and closed sanitation work orders
  • Provide shift-focused supervision to the sanitation employees
  • Communicate routinely with employees to ensure that they all understand the day's sanitation schedule, key issues, and challenges
  • Manage all cleaning and basic repair activities in accordance with the standards, regulations, and laws governing food safety, food quality, and environmental safety regulations and monitor and accurately document all work done
  • Ensures that all standards for food safety and food quality are met and exceeded
  • Keeps work environment clean, safe and positive
  • Identifies problems or bottlenecks in sanitation processes and resolves issues
  • Assure the implementation of all identified food quality and food safety standards, laws, good manufacturing practices, training and continuous improvement
  • Identify and document the skills, performance opportunities, learning needs, time, and attendance of each sanitation associate and teach routinely
  • Assure all sanitation associates are consistently trained in all required standards and expectations, including temporary employees
  • Manage chemical Inventory and employee chemical training
  • Manage facility Pest Control Program
  • Manage Facility Color Coding Program
  • Manage Facility Glass and Brittle Plastic Procedures
  • Complete Quarterly trend reports for Programs managed by Sanitation Supervisor 
  • Participate in external and internal Audits
  • Conduct PIT training
  • Conduct LOTO training for Sanitation Employees
  • Manage and Organize Sanitation Supplies and work areas
  • Adhere to and promote a culture of food safety and quality
  • This role will be required to taste test products as needed, up to a couple of ounces per test.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes strategic goals; identifies and evaluates trends; chooses a course of action; defines objectives; evaluates outcomes.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college in food science or related discipline.  
  • HAACP highly preferred certification
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience in sanitation or related discipline in the beverage or related food industry.  
  • Proficient in cleaning food contact surfaces including but not limited to CIP/COP systems.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain the Lassonde Pappas Forklift Certification.
  • Chemical handling certification. 
  • Ability to properly use and maintain chemical foamers.
  • Work in a safe manner following all PPE requirements.
  • Must be Scrubber Certified. (To include proper transportation procedures.) 
  • Must be able to develop SSOPs and Sanitation Procedures
  • Must be able to train and communicate effectively
  • Must have MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must be able to obtain HACCP and SQF certifications 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

 

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility.  Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

 

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program.  Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

 

VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction.  Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.  Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
