Job Summary
Performs a variety of skilled, construction and renovation tasks which includes but is not limited to selective demolition, measurement and layout of work, carpentry, framing, drywall installation and finishing, installing acoustical ceiling systems, installing doors, door frames and door hardware, painting, wallcovering, concrete placement and finishing.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years of experience in a construction related field
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): 3 years of experience can be substituted for completion of a LMC construction apprentice program
Required Certifications/Licensure: SC Driver's License and an acceptable driving history
Required Training: Must be able to read technical cut sheets, submittals and construction plans with a basic level of comprehension
- Operates a variety of tools and equipment common to the construction industry including but not limited to hammer, skill saw, screw gun, drill, powder actuated tools, lasers, levels, tape measure, etc.
- Navigates basic computerized applications for time keeping, training and email.
- Reads technical cut sheets, submittals and construction plans with a basic level of comprehension.
- Assist as assigned with construction projects where his/her expertise is needed.
- Works as a team member to ensure healthcare facility and work area safety at all times.
- Works as team member to implement and maintain infection control on construction projects in compliance with organizational infection control requirements.
- Trains, instructs and directs helpers and coworkers and as assigned, assists other trades on construction projects.
- Maintains skills and stays current with construction industry trends.
- Executes project requirements and coordinates with appropriate personnel to complete daily tasks.
- Knowledgeable about basic hospital life safety codes and requirements including shut down requirements and interim life safety measures.
- Maintains an optimistic and professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, coworkers and clinical staff. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect. Conforms to Service Expectation Policy and "House Rules".
- Performs other such duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, fire or disaster.
- Orders construction materials and follows basic policy regarding purchases and documentation of purchases for cost accounting purposes.
