Cardiac Surgery (Full Scope, ICU or OR/Surgical)

Healthcare is changing and Luminis Health is growing! We are currently seeking a PA in Cardiac Surgery in our Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Become that beacon of light and hope to our patients.
Under the direction and supervision of the Physician Assistant (PA), the Cardiac Surgery PA will perform all required clinical duties, including patient evaluation and management in the preoperative, postoperative, and outpatient settings as well as performing ICU bedside procedures (e.g. arterial line and central line insertion), endovascular vein harvesting, and first assisting cardiac surgical procedures (e.g. CABG, valve surgery, aorta surgery).
Responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with clinical teams in managing cardiac surgery patients in the pre-operative, peri-operative, post-operative, and outpatient environments
- Collecting data pertinent to the patient's health and situation including interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient's status, and performing minor surgical procedures (such as vein harvesting)
- Formulating a treatment plan for Cardiac problems within scope of practice. Implementing therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercising judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Cardiac surgeon, or other health care professionals
- Comparing and contrasting clinical findings, normal and abnormal variations in formulating a diagnosis
- Identifying assessment, diagnostic strategies, and therapeutic interventions within the plan that reflect current evidence, including data, research, literature, and expert clinical knowledge; collaborating with physician on the plan as needed
- Caring directly for clients and help managing complex patients. Promoting patient engagement by explaining treatment plan, identifying and addressing any expected obstacles.
- Participating in the quality and patient satisfaction review process, incorporating feedback into improvement plans and associated quality forums. Using quality data to enhance effectiveness of care delivery.
- Using current health care research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhancing role performance and increasing knowledge of professional issues
- Participating in group call duties, including night and weekend coverage.
Requirements include:
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant School.
- 2+ years of related Cardiac Surgery clinical experience.
- Current License as a Physician Assistant.
