Title and Summary

Applied R&D - Senior Data Scientist Founded by Mastercard and IBM in 2018, Trūata specializes in privacy-enhancing technologies for privacy risk assessment, de-identification, and
true anonymization of data. We were one of the first companies in the EU to receive independently accredited ISO 27701 certification, the international standard for data privacy management. In 2023, Mastercard acquired full ownership of Trūata with Trūata continuing to operate as an independent entity within the Mastercard Data Insights & Analytics Organisation.

Role Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be building the next generation of privacy-enhancing software to identify and mitigate privacy risks while delivering analytic value. This will involve conducting evaluations of privacy-enhancing technologies and vendors, core research, prototyping and evaluation, understanding & implementing customer requirements, and managing stakeholders across multiple disciplines and organisations.

We are an IP-centric organization so the techniques you will be developing will be novel and unique. We pride ourselves in delivering the best and to do that we hire the best. You will be a member of a highly skilled cross-disciplinary technical team designing and building a platform to enable enterprises to perform analytics on their customer data in a GDPR-compliant way.

This role will report to Truata's Chief Data Scientist and be responsible for creating solutions that enable organisations to share insights across their datasets in a privacy-compliant way and also to analyse their own sensitive data without violating data subject's fundamental right to privacy. A key part of the role will be to support the investigation and evaluation of privacy-enhancing technologies, both to identify technology opportunities for implementation and also to source existing solutions to enhance our offerings.

Working with our product innovation teams and functions across the wider Mastercard ecosystem, this role will have high impact and visibility across the organisation. This role will be responsible for ensuring Truata's solutions deliver high-value insights and communicating the impact to a variety of key stakeholders.

All About You

We are seeking an innovation-minded data scientist with experience in creating novel solutions in response to customer and market requirements. You will need to be comfortable with uncertainty and able to address risks via experimentation and prototyping. We seek high-agency individuals who can build relationships with different functions across the company and align expectation and execution with the company's core vision.

PySpark is a core skillset we seek, with strong Python, Scala, SQL skills also beneficial.

Experience with data privacy regulations, privacy engineering, cryptographic privacy technologies, encryption, cloud infrastructure providers and big data technologies also a plus.
