Title and Summary
Counsel Overview:The candidate must demonstrate sound business and legal judgement, thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a diverse workload, and have a proven track record of providing pragmatic and proactive legal advice. The candidate must have extensive experience providing both tactical and strategic legal support to executive level business professionals.
Responsible for providing legal advice to assigned business units providing comprehensive, end-to-end legal support by facilitating thoughtful risk-taking to enable Mastercard to deliver on strategy.
Role:
• Acts as the principal day-to-day advisor for clients, including partnering with the business and legal specialists to implement applicable laws and regulations that facilitate commercial operations and activities
• Autonomously structures, drafts, reviews and negotiates sophisticated legal agreements related to business operations and activities, including identifying risk, recommending modifications and approvals of legal agreements
• Communicates changes in laws and regulations and; trains clients on risks, legal consequences, and alternative actions, as needed
• Partners with legal specialists and outside counsels to coordinate research, investigate legal issues, and ensure compliance with regulations
• Coaches and mentors others while serving as a technical expert, often leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and sharing legal knowledge for a business and/or market
All About You:
• Solid experience in leading law firm or large corporation
• Drafting and negotiating high complexity agreements
• Interaction with internal and external clients on various matter
• Provide legal analysis on business matters to support the day-to-day decision making processes
• Experience managing and resolving investigations of high-risk business issues
• Fluent English
