Overview:
Indonesia, the biggest economy in ASEAN, is rapidly adopting digital to grow faster and bring goods and services to the different corners of the archipelago. The Government of Indonesia, central bank and the rising unicorns are enabling the shift to a digitally powered economy, resulting in a thrust to digital payments.
The Director, Business and Strategy Development is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing high-impact strategic initiatives aligned with Mastercard Indonesia's multi-year country plan. This role shapes and drives transformative programs in line with Indonesia's national priorities that enable Mastercard's long-term growth, relevance and business resilience in the Archipelago.
Reporting to the Country Manager, the Director will partner across internal and external stakeholders, both private and public sector to orchestrate new opportunities and address enterprise risks that are critical for Mastercard's long term success in Indonesia.
Role
1. Lead the design and execution of a multi-year plan in line with Mastercard's local, regional and global objectives.
• Identify emerging trends, white spaces, and priority sectors that present opportunities for growth or strategic impact.
• Set measurable objectives and KPIs for initiatives; monitor and report progress, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve outcomes.
• Develop business cases, strategic frameworks, and investment proposals for new initiatives.
2. Drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment of initiatives with operational capabilities, financial goals, and stakeholder expectations.
• Support Mastercard's engagement with government agencies, regulators, industry associations, and partners to align initiatives with policy directions and unlock ecosystem-level opportunities.
3. Focus on monetization of existing partnerships and business in Indonesia and expanding the adoption of Mastercard technologies
• Provides a single view of business performance, past, present and forecasted in line with the multi-year country plan
4. Team closely with various functions to establish and manage a clear understanding of financial, operational, technology and regulatory risks, and how these are addressed in part of the country plan.
5. Provide thought leadership on issues critical to the country plan, including digital transformation, sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth.
• Guide and mentor team members and stakeholders in critical thinking and execution discipline.
• Represent the organization in key forums, contributing as a technology leader and advocating for enabling environments.
All About You
6. 10+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or related leadership roles.
7. Extensive experience within the payments industry, extremely proficient in trends, technology, and players in digital economy will be viewed favourably
8. Demonstrable experience in leading complex, multi-stakeholder strategic initiatives from conception to implementation.
9. Strong understanding of the country's socio-economic landscape, government priorities, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
10. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to craft clear narratives and influence at all levels.
11. Ideal candidate would have a management degree and been a people manager.
