Through actionable research, impact data science, programmatic grants, stakeholder engagement and global partnerships, the Center advances equitable and sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion around the world. Reporting to the Vice President, Inclusive Innovation & Analytics, the Director, Impact Data Science will focus on 1) mainstreaming advanced analytics to accelerate inclusive growth and the field of impact data science; 2) building and managing a network of experts and partners to shape the conversation around impact data science; 3) creating and/or scaling data science methodologies, products and tools to advance inclusive growth.
Role:
• Drive a strategy, use cases, solutions and partnerships that advance the field of impact data science;
• Manage a diverse portfolio of grants while delivering strong outcomes and outputs;
• Institutionalize data driven decision-making across the Center and its partner and grantee network;
• Design and manage data-based research projects from start to finish – from defining the research objectives to conducting advanced analytics to generating insights to publishing thought leadership;
• Contribute to and execute a new inclusive innovation strategy which helps the Center retain and strengthen its leadership position in the tech for good space;
• Build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally to scale impact data science;
• Actively participate in technical communities and conversations to monitor emerging data science trends, use cases and breakthroughs in the field;
• Produce data visualizations and data tools that clearly demonstrate how data insights can help solve challenges and remove barriers related to inclusive growth;
• Build internal coalitions and harness Mastercard's human capital and technology for social impact;
• Advise on and support the Center's evolving cybersecurity work across its portfolio.
All about you:
• Outcome driven; with experience providing innovative advanced analytical solutions that have lasting impact in multiple dimensions; strategic, operational and financial
• Experience managing philanthropic grants in the tech for good sector
• Strong track record as an innovator and implementer as evidenced by direct leadership of complex projects, senior roles in product development, or other comparable experiences
• Strong, established network in the data for good field
• Proven skills in visioning, planning and executing the strategic deployment of analytical systems, products, applications and data to support a complex organization and ambitious social impact agenda
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization
• Ability to translate complex information into actionable insights
• Attention to detail and ability to work with urgency
• Good understanding of global privacy, data protection and AI regulatory principles and standards
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment
• While not required, cross-sectoral and exposure to public and social sector sectors would be beneficial
• Experience with machine learning methods and data mining, utilizing advanced analytical techniques, algorithms, and methodologies (Python, R, SAS, etc.) preferred
