Overview
The Regulatory team is looking for a Director, Regulatory Compliance to lead our global open banking regulatory compliance team. The ideal candidate is a regulatory compliance champion with deep experience with building and supporting regulatory compliance management programs and a background in US open banking and/or credit reporting regulation.
The position will dual report to the Senior Managing Counsel, Open Banking, and Vice President, Head of Regulatory Compliance.
The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with the ability to effectively manage a global team of regulatory compliance specialists. He/she will need to think and act both strategically and tactically with respect to the needs of business clients and their objectives, while ensuring that the company remains compliant with regulatory requirements pertaining to our open banking activities.
Role
- Manage team of regulatory compliance specialists who support Mastercard's open banking business in different jurisdictions across the globe.
- Provide subject matter expertise with respect to operational requirements, policies, and procedures to comply with applicable US regulatory obligations, including 1033, FCRA, and UDAAP.
- Design and implement solutions for ensuring regulatory compliance in the US, EU, UK, and other jurisdictions, efficiently at scale. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to help design controls, including for data environments used to support open banking products and services.
- Manage regulatory supervision and maintain strong relationships with key regulators to drive the expansion of our open banking strategy.
Develop and conduct training programs to ensure business teams and other internal stakeholders understand regulatory obligations and best practices.
- Maintain and update compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Actively participate in cross-functional workshops to identify and mitigate regulatory risks associated with new open banking initiatives.
- Track and analyze emerging regulatory trends and provide strategic insights to support the company's open banking goals and objectives.
- Establish a comprehensive second-line control assurance framework, aligned to Mastercard's global regulatory control assurance program, to periodically evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls. Manage remediation efforts.
- Coordinate regulatory examinations and manage responses.
- Manage applicable regulatory licensing applications and renewals.
All About You
- Bachelor's degree is required; CRCM certification preferred.
- Experience in banking and/or lending regulatory compliance.
- Significant experience as a people leader, ideally in a hybrid environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. consumer protection regulations (e.g. FCRA, UDAAP), FFIEC standards, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of CFPB's 1033 Rule preferred.
- Ability to analyze FCRA implicated data for compliance reviews and audits.
- Experience building compliance management systems, including performing compliance risk assessments, and performing regulatory compliance reviews.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders in a large, matrixed organization
- Creative thinker able to support innovation while still managing risk.
- Strong analytic capabilities and written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering with legal, business, and technical colleagues.

Salary range:
