Title and Summary
Lead software engineer Overview:As a Software Development Engineer in the Mastercard Services team, you will play a valuable role within a successful and rapidly growing business unit, working closely with experienced and motivated engineers to solve challenging problems.
As a member of the Mastercard D&S Business Intelligence team, you will bring your technical knowledge and back-end development experience to help build, deploy, and scale real-time interactive applications for thousands of clients across the globe that
allow users to compare the performance of their portfolio against benchmarks. You will scale our platform to be able to support more customers and broader use cases by helping re-architect our calc tier to use modern and big-data focused
scale-out technologies (distributed storage, scale-out compute, elastic resources in the cloud). Our next-generation platform blends industry-leading analytics, advanced software architecture, and the latest data processing technologies.
Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to feature design, building, and testing. The range of work you encounter varies from front-end web development to writing server-side calculation code to database work.
There are no rigid organizational structures at Mastercard; each team uses processes that work the best for that team's members and projects.
About You :
• 9-15 years of overall career experience into Software Development
• Excellent expertise on Java Backend required
• Experience on React or Angular a must
• Hands-on experience in designing solutions and full stack development in modern technologies for large enterprise technology platforms and systems
• Hands-on experience in coding Microservices in Java, building UI/UX, frameworks such as React, Angular, spring boot, RDBMS, Oracle and event driven architecture.
• Experience in deploying applications using CI/CD pipelines, docker containers & Kubernetes to Cloud platforms is preferred
• Knowledge with Pivotal Cloud Foundry or any other cloud platform AWS or Azure or GCP is preferred.
• Has experience designing and implementing solutions focusing on the non-functional concerns – Performance, Scalability, Availability, Extensibility, Supportability, Usability
• Operate with urgency, fairness and decency to address challenges and solve for new opportunities.
• Capable of working under pressure – navigating complex initiatives, competing priorities and customer requirements.
• Strong communicator to maintain internal and external alignment.
• Familiar with cutting edge industry trends and thorough understanding of development methodologies and standards,
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
• Has skills to promote and coach teams on take on full stack development and facilitate end-to-end service ownership
• Has skills to drive trade-off discussions to set right development capacity based on value drivers e.g., regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt
• Has experience in design and execution of automation across multiple business areas and provides guidance on best methods and tools.
• Has skills to succinctly articulate architecture patterns of complex systems, with business and technical implications, to executive and customer stakeholders
• Has skills to define and drive advanced chaos and other operational testing practices to test points of failures, monitors, and system behaviors under adverse conditions e.g., resource spikes, network congestion, component or infrastructure failure
• Experienced in agile and modern SDLC practices: Scrum/Kanban/Continuous Delivery/DevOps/Quality engineering, and the delivery situations they are used for

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for
• Design and develop secure, reliable, and scalable solutions for globally distributed customer facing products
• Support development teams and work with stakeholders, promoting agile development
• Create a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Research, create and evaluate technical solution alternatives for the business needs using current and upcoming technologies and frameworks
• They are hands on all the time and collaborate by writing interfaces, tests; unit or acceptance and architecture fitness functions, outside of meeting rooms.
• Work with business/product owners to architect and deliver on new services to introduce new products and bundles
• Participate and contribute to team's agile process and decisions. Understand and contribute to Prioritization. Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners
• Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
• Take ownership to improve the customer experience of an entire set of services/applications sold as products or bundled services
• Contribute and lead initiatives by engaging and mentoring Engineers at all levels to improve the craftmanship of Software Engineering
• Consult across teams and across organization lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
• Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering staff and raising the performance bar
