The Payment Resiliency team develops new products for Mastercard's Services organization. We protect the payment network ecosystem and aim to deny credit card scammers. Our industry-leading applications scrutinize billions of transactions, bolstering the ecosystem and defending cardholders from fraud attacks every second of every day. The Manager position will play a critical role in the coordination of new product functionality within this product portfolio including world-class backend and consumer-facing features.

Role
• Supervise and mentor 2+ engineering teams, providing guidance, career development, and performance management to ensure high-quality application delivery and continuous team improvement.
• Partner with business and product owners to develop new services, enhance products, and align engineering initiatives with business objectives.
• Conduct frequent reviews to maintain operational resiliency, ensuring applications are robust, secure, and meet performance standards.
• Recruit top engineering talent, focusing on building high-performing teams and developing individuals through coaching and timely feedback.
• Oversee budget, forecasting, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with business needs and efficient delivery of objectives.
• Promote knowledge sharing, drive engineering productivity, and ensure compliance with technology standards to foster innovation and reuse across teams.

All About You
• Proven experience managing 2+ engineering teams with cross-functional influence, driving development efforts, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Strong background in Java technologies, secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT), vulnerability management, and building applications using open frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Angular).
• Proficient in debugging and analyzing core, heap, and thread dumps to resolve coding errors and optimize code performance.
• Skilled in documenting and coaching teams on development practices such as code reviews, test-driven development, error handling, and continuous refactoring.
• Expertise in system architecture, platform/infrastructure capacity planning, and simplifying deployment through automation, standardized platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Focused on customer journey optimization, ensuring high availability (99.95%) and reducing incident resolution time, while conducting performance tests to understand system limits and behaviors.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
