Overview

The Data Governance and Control team is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. Role

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing services team, driving a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic and technical leadership across applications, systems, and development methodologies, including designing scalable, high-quality platform solutions and service-oriented architectures.
• Participate and lead feature planning, scoping, estimation and execution to ensure clear priorities, efficient delivery, and alignment with business objectives.
• Serve as a senior technical resource, mentoring engineers, guiding development best practices, and elevating overall team capability.
• Drive the scaling and automation of data platforms and processes across cloud and on-prem environments, with strong expertise in databases, data warehousing, and Data Cataloging.
• Drive best practices, standards, and process improvements within the team.
• Enforce engineering excellence through code reviews, process improvements, and adoption of innovative technologies to handle rapidly growing data sets.
• Own delivery of assigned initiatives, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including product, architecture, operations, and business teams.
• Manage vendor relationships and SOW engagements while ensuring strong performance management, goal alignment, and delivery accountability across the team.

All About You :

• Proven experience leading, coaching, and scaling high-performing software development teams across multiple locations and levels.
• Professional experience in Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, or Data Cataloging, including experience managing or leading a team with responsibilities for task allocation, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Strong ability to collaborate across business units, effectively communicating and partnering with stakeholders at all levels within a global organization.
• Skilled at translating business requirements into technical solutions, working closely with product and engineering teams to drive execution.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic roadmaps aligned to customer needs and business goals.
• Hands-on full-stack engineering experience within agile, production environments.
• Deep expertise in databases, data warehousing, and Informatica.
• Proven ability to design and implement scalable, high-impact solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Experience building modular architectures, including single-responsibility services and API-driven designs.
• Strong background in automating and scaling complex data pipelines and application architectures, with solid knowledge of web and server-side technologies (microservices); experience with modern OOP languages (e.g., Java) is a plus.
• Passion for analytical problem-solving, combined with strong communication skills and experience with CI/CD practices for large-scale production systems.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $140,000 - $231,000 USD
