Title and Summary

Senior Accountant Overview:

• Global Business Solutions Center (GBSC) drives innovation, empowers solutions, and fosters partnerships. Mastercard's business units and regions utilize GBSC to improve efficiency, enhance customer experience, and achieve results.
• The Finance Services Teams within GBSC offer comprehensive accounting and reporting solutions globally.
• GBSC's Corporate Finance Teams provide control, compliance, and accurate financial information to support smooth operations.
• This position rolls up into GBSC Corporate Finance Team and primarily involves (but not limited to) managing Cash Accounting, Reconciliations and Month-end closing for Mastercard entities worldwide, and may further evolve for managing complex accounting with greater responsibilities.
• This role involves collaboration with international stakeholders and various cross-functional teams to manage daily accounting operations, address queries, and implement continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparing and reviewing General Ledger reconciliations and journal entries as part of month-end close activities.
• Review Cash and sub-ledger transactions, perform foreign exchange (FX) analysis, and variance analysis to support accurate financial adjustments.
• Understand the financial impacts and intricate accounting treatments, ensuring strict compliance with regulations, laws, and reporting standards.
• Support reporting activities preparing various reports, scorecards and dashboards etc.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and handles process improvements, escalations, and BAU tasks.
• Support internal and external audits, including SOX compliance, and contribute to strengthening control frameworks
• Identify process gaps, assess and mitigate risks, and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Independently determines complexity of issues, escalates and makes recommendations to leadership.
• Support the business partner relationship and applies a client-service mentality by addressing ad-hoc requests and queries effectively.
• Manage special projects and initiatives, including entity transitions, process improvements, and new acquisitions.
• Drive usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automations for process efficiencies and effectiveness.

All About You:

• Education/Certifications:
o Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
o MBA/CA Inter – Preferred

• Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
o Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and GAAP principles (US GAAP preferred)
o Strong understanding of subledger and controlling accounts for AP, AR, Intercompany etc
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
o Results-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and maintain a structured approach to deliverables
o Dedicated to achieving key outputs with a sense of urgency and professionalism
o Preferably experienced with Oracle Financials
o Strong commitment to customer service excellence, featuring a customer-centric mindset
o Thorough understanding of MS Excel (Knowledge in PowerBI/Power Automate is beneficial)
o Drive usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automations for process efficiencies and effectiveness
o Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
