Title and Summary

Senior Auditor Overview
At Mastercard, Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advisory activities designed to add value and improve our operations and control environment. Internal Audit helps Mastercard accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the design and operating effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls. Internal Audit's activities also assist the Board of Directors, Audit Committees, and management in fulfilling their oversight role, and statutory and fiduciary responsibilities.
The Regions & Markets team within Internal Audit provides third-line evaluation of controls for Mastercard's in-market operations ensuring alignment and compliance with local, regional and global frameworks, standards, and directives. Internal Audit also serves as a point of contact for regulators interested in third-line activities.

Role
As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will play a key role in executing audits and advisory engagements across Mastercard's global operations. You will apply your professional judgment and technical skills to assess risks, evaluate controls, and provide insights that strengthen business processes. This role is ideal for a seasoned audit professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
• Execute end-to-end audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting, in accordance with internal audit methodology and professional standards.
• Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls across business and technology processes.
• Identify control gaps and process improvement opportunities, and evaluate compliance with operational, legal, regulatory, and policies and procedures
• Understand the business and technology environment; effectively partner with stakeholders to understand associated risk and control environment
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives, risks, and control environments.
• Provide credible challenge to stakeholders in all areas of audit coverage
• Provide input to value-added audit findings that provide clarity to, and stimulate action from, management
• Identify, draft, and validate issues with business partners, accounting for impact, root cause, and risk severity
• Provide input to management action plans required for sustainable resolution of identified control gaps and issues
• Work with issue owners to drive the development of sustainable actions to remediate issues
• Monitor the implementation of management action plans and validate remediation efforts.
• Be a champion and advocate for strong risk management, governance, internal controls, and partner with other risk and control functions across the organization to strengthen our three lines of defense model
• Engage with colleagues across regions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within a globally distributed audit team.
All About You
• Ability to quickly understand and critically analyze complex processes, identify and assess potential risks, and determine whether those risks are appropriately mitigated using various techniques, such as problem solving, root cause, and data analysis
• Demonstrated experience in, and commitment to, the fields of internal / external audit, through work experience, professional credentials (e.g., CIA, CISA, CPA, or equivalent), or experience working in operations, finance, compliance, or similar role within a major global organization with a strong focus on risk management
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, including command of written and spoken English; any other languages are a plus
• Intellectually curious, self-motivated, passionate, works well both independently and as part of a team; service-minded, culturally attuned, and flexible
• Committed to self-development; encourages constructive criticism, and seeks opportunities to capitalize on demonstrated strengths and to identify and address development areas
• Deliver on time, high quality testing/audits, reviews, and advisory projects, with participation in all phases: planning/scoping, fieldwork, and reporting
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• Professional certification (e.g., CIA, CISA, CPA) strongly preferred.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in internal or external audit, risk management, or compliance, ideally within a global organization.
• Solid understanding of internal control frameworks, audit standards (e.g., IIA), and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience in the payments industry, big 4 or financial services is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., ACL, IDEA, Power BI) and GRC tool Open Pages is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 10%
