Title and Summary

Senior Software Engineer The Team
Customer Access is a dedicated collection of self-organizing, high performing, interdependent, co-located individuals representing different functional roles building the next generation of security products at Mastercard. This team leads with mission to provide overall stewardship of enterprise-grade application architecture and design within the context of holistic software development, including driving architecture and design decisions and building consensus around them.

Customer Access is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with expertise in security, Java and Spring Boot to lead a team developing API and web security products . This team builds and maintains the security platform used by internal and external facing application across Mastercard.

The Role
A Senior Software Engineer specializing in security, Java, and Spring Boot is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure and scalable applications. They lead technical projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, carrying out the following responsibilities:

• Design and develop secure, high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement and maintain security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Lead technical projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver software solutions.
• Perform code reviews, ensuring code quality and adherence to coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats and technologies.
• Ensure adherence to software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.


About You

• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
• Experience with common security frameworks and tools.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
