Title and Summary

Senior Software Engineer, Quality As a Senior Software Quality Engineer in Services, you'll hold a valued role within a rapidly growing and successful firm, working closely with experienced and driven engineers to solve problems as a team. Innovative product opportunities, modern business questions, and intricate datasets present uniquely challenging problems that we are eager to take on. Mastercard's PI next generation platform blends industry‑leading analytics, advanced software architecture, and the latest web technologies to address these challenges. Our software must effectively decipher analytically complex insights on which businesses base multi‑million‑dollar decisions.
As part of the Portfolio Intelligence team, you will bring your testing skills to drive the quality of a transformational new platform for issuers, leveraging large data sets and providing actionable insights. We are looking for an innovative software quality engineer who can design and execute test plans for full‑stack features and build quality gates into our analytics and data systems. Your work will range from writing automated tests to ensuring analytical accuracy and beyond.

This is a hybrid position based in Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week onsite.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, you will:
• Lead testing of large, complex features used by some of the world's largest organizations to make multi-million dollar decisions
• Ensure that calculations are correct in all possible circumstances
• Manage and coordinate large testing and release efforts with continuous delivery
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing processes
• Ensure data quality for the insights that power our products
• Innovate and continually learn and work with new technologies
• Invest in personal growth and take on team responsibilities
• Collaborate across teams with exceptional peers who are passionate about what they do
• Work with Product Managers to develop a deep understanding of users and use cases and apply that knowledge to your quality efforts
• Drive improvements to team and testing processes

Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Senior Software Quality Engineer, Software Engineer in Test, or Test Automation Engineer.
• Experience with a variety of different testing techniques such as automated testing, performance testing, analytics testing, test driven development strategies, etc.
• Proficiency in:
o Agile frameworks
o Unit testing libraries/frameworks (Java Spring Boot framework preferred)
o UI automation tools (Playwright)
o Code management tools (Git)
o Deployment tools (Jenkins)
o SQL (Postgres)
• Experience with cloud-based data warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Databricks) and ETL tooling (Apache Airflow) is preferred
• Highly motivated professional with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to independently develop and execute test plans including manual, automated, unit, and performance testing
• Strong technologist with a continuous-learning mindset who can adopt emerging testing tools and technologies while helping shape the team's long-term quality frameworks and testing strategy
• Demonstrated analytical / quantitative problem solving
• Motivation, creativity, self direction, and desire to thrive on small project teams
• Keen sense of prioritization and ability to time
• Superior academic record with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Experience collaborating with diverse, cross-functional teams

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Pay Ranges

Arlington, Virginia: $132,000 - $212,000 USD
