These include some of the largest of Mastercard's partnerships globally. This role will report into the Executive Vice President, Market Development Europe.
Objective is to drive the growth of Mastercard's European business by identifying opportunities for these clients to (i) originate more Consumer and B2B payment flows onto Mastercard's network; (ii) consume more Mastercard services propositions to bring greater value to these segments and diversify Mastercard revenues; (iii) drive adoption of the next generation of digital payments acceptance solutions; and (iv) find new ways to grow card acceptance in mature European markets.

Role
Leadership: Motivate, coach and develop a team of high-performing business development leads, account managers, solution architects, and sales operations professionals – provide the challenge, inspiration and support required to build a deeper understanding of our customers to demand the solutions that will meet clients' needs and deliver success, empowering them to spearhead Mastercard's future growth. Develop Merchant & Acceptance team members to unlock their potential and ensure that the team is seen as a great place to work.
Ownership: Management of a sizable P&L comprising issuing revenue from cobrand and virtual card partnerships, services revenues including significant user-pay revenues from platform partnerships and acceptance revenues. Delivery of activities that will yield significant future revenue growth for Mastercard across Flows (consumer & CNPF); Services; and core (digital and acceptance).
Subject matter expertise: Central and regional role for the BD teams in the European markets as a subject matter expert for the broad segment, driving best practices across markets, sharing information on key areas (acceptance, merchant value proposition selling, target setting etc.) to foster growth in segments and sub-segments.
Relationships + Partnerships:
- Ability to engage new and existing partnerships to build a strong understanding of their business, with research and how Mastercard can bring value.
- Support the team by building the external and internal relationships that are required to elevate our understanding of customers and influence the internal Mastercard organisation to ensure our customer's needs are understood and met.
- Work closely with the Senior Vice Presidents leading the other 4 domains for MDE: Digital Partnerships, Mastercard Strategic Growth & Public Sector, Mastercard Direct Services (MCDS) and Mastercard Commercial Processing. This partnership across the 5 domains of MDE is essential for the future of our diversification in Europe by winning in non-traditional segments, tapping into our preferred clients for solutions and services and potentially delivering new business models.
Customer Focus: Empower the Business Development and Account Management teams to be confident in envisaging how our solutions help our customers. Encourage meticulous research of our customers and prospects; ensure the teams are curious and ask great questions to build a picture of where our solutions can play a role.
