Title and Summary
Site Reliability Engineer I OverviewThe Arcus Engineering team is looking for a Jr. Site Reliability Engineer to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset who supports the reliability, scalability, and performance of production systems. This candidate will work closely with engineering and operations teams to automate processes, monitor infrastructure, and respond to incidents. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in systems and a passion for continuous improvement.
Role
• Supports quality or process engineering best practices to deliver services and solutions that meet stakeholders needs
• Develops foundational knowledge around quality or process engineering best practices to deliver services and solutions that meet stakeholders needs
• Supports development and validation of dashboards and reports for stakeholder needs and helps identify process improvements
• Assists with the development, building, and maintenance of assigned technologies and associated Infra products
• Resolves standard problems as they arise and provides basic technical assistance to ensure proper infra performance
• Supports compliance posture which includes escalating potential concerns, and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions
• Supports the development of status reports and implementation and troubleshooting activities, providing updates to project plans as needed
• May manage smaller project/initiatives as an experienced individual contributor with specialized knowledge within assigned discipline
• Provides support to ensure optimal infrastructure or process performance
• Identifies automation that can be used by initial responders for easily resolvable issues
All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should:
• Assist in monitoring, alerting, and incident response for production systems.
• Support automation of deployment, scaling, and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with developers to improve system reliability and performance.
• Document runbooks, procedures, and post-incident analyses.
• Participate in on-call rotations with guidance from senior engineers.
• Understands how containers are deployed and managed. Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Shows interest in automating infrastructure provisioning.Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Understands basic principles of access control, encryption, and audit logging. Awareness of security and compliance best practices
• Can clearly explain technical concepts and contribute to team knowledge bases.
• Able to navigate, troubleshoot, and manage basic server operations. Intermediate proficiency in Linux systems administration
• Capable of writing automation scripts for routine tasks and log parsing. Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash)
• Familiar with core services like EC2, S3, IAM, and monitoring tools. Understanding of AWS cloud platform
• Understands how code moves from development to production. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git, GitHub Actions)
• Can interpret metrics and logs to identify system health issues. Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Dynatrace, Grafana, CloudWatch)
• Demonstrates logical thinking and persistence when resolving issues.
