Title and Summary
Sr Software Engineer OverviewThe MDES Team, is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to help build next-generation, microservices-based enterprise applications using the Java stack and modern, best-of-breed user interfaces. This team plays a key role in driving the company's innovation strategy by integrating AI-driven capabilities into scalable, high-performance systems.
The ideal candidate is passionate about designing and developing high-quality code that is scalable, resilient, and highly available—and excited to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI innovation. You'll collaborate closely with data scientists, product teams, and platform engineers to deliver intelligent features and seamless user experiences.
Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
- create designs and drive trade-off discussions a small collaborative team of product managers and software engineers;
- devise and architect best of breed web experiences focused on achieving positive customer outcomes, customer journeys and customer experience;
- apply best practices from previous industry experience, whilst adhering to our own engineering principles of writing high quality, secure code that is modular, functional and testable;
- take true ownership and responsibility for your team's software and its maintenance characteristics, runtime properties and dependencies; including hardware, operating system and build;
- support production deployment, system maintenance and operations of the applications, even when things don't go as expected or incidents occur; responding to incidents as a member of the on-call support team;
- provide feedback on peer designs, code, tests and automations, providing optimization and simplification recommendations;
All about You/Experience
You should apply if:
• you have a strong foundation in core computer science concepts, design patterns, browser fundamentals, and software security principles;
• you have hands-on experience building scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot, with a focus on microservices architectures;
• you have experience developing with modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, React, or Angular—but you're more focused on back-end and systems development;
• you've worked with or are eager learn to integrate AI/ML capabilities into enterprise applications—whether through APIs, embedded models, or intelligent services;
• you have experience designing or consuming RESTful APIs and working with event-driven or asynchronous systems;
• you enjoy mentoring and collaborating with teammates, contributing to a culture of learning and innovation;
• you're excited to build impactful, intelligent applications that serve hundreds of millions of users globally.
It would also be great if:
• you have first-hand knowledge of a wide range of technologies – databases, messaging, caches, API gateways, networking, pipelines, cryptography, – and preferably the products we use such as Jenkins, Splunk, Akamai, Dynatrace, etc..
