Title and Summary

Vice President, Business Development, Travel Overview

MasterCard is looking for a visionary leader to drive its Global Travel strategy, aligning with the company's mission to bring together its global network, partners, and technologies to enhance the travel ecosystem. This role goes beyond traditional B2B, requiring a holistic, cross-functional approach that leverages MasterCard's expertise to shape sustainable, inclusive, and frictionless travel experiences.

The Vice President, Global Travel will work across regional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies, shape thought leadership, and build high-impact partnerships that extend beyond payments. This leader will play a critical role in integrating MasterCard's payment capabilities, digital solutions, and advisory expertise into the global travel landscape, addressing key industry challenges and the need for enhanced traveler experiences.

• Commercial Growth & Go-To-Market Execution
• Drive commercial success by structuring broad, high-value partnerships to deliver sticky, long-term client relationships.
• Support regional business development teams in expanding MasterCard's travel footprint, identifying key market opportunities and defining an opportunity roadmap.
• Lead the identification and execution of key use cases, ensuring that MasterCard's solutions address industry pain points and create value for airlines, OTAs, lodging providers, and travel intermediaries.
• Lead high-impact commercial initiatives that drive MasterCard's position in the travel sector.
• Strategy & Thought Leadership
• Develop and deploy a comprehensive global travel strategy, ensuring alignment with MasterCard's broader commercial and travel sector initiatives.
• Shape the future of travel commerce, embedding travel use cases into MasterCard's cross-border, premium, and co-brand strategies.
• Position MasterCard as a thought leader by engaging with key industry stakeholders, representing the company at global travel conferences, and advocating for innovative payment solutions.
• Innovation & Product Enhancement
• Identify gaps and innovation opportunities in the travel sector and work closely with product teams to drive new capabilities and enhancements tailored to industry needs.
• Champion solutions that bridge the travel infrastructure with digital transformation, ensuring seamless, scalable, and cost-effective deployments.
• Collaborate with product, data, and consulting teams to create bundled offerings that drive value for travel partners and optimization.
• Organizational Influence & RFP Oversight
• Ensure industry insights inform MasterCard's product development, partnerships, and market positioning.
• Provide strategic oversight on key RFPs, ensuring that MasterCard remains competitive in the global travel payments and commerce space.

All About You
The ideal candidate will be a high-impact, strategic leader with the ability to navigate complex organizations, drive pipeline, and execute a global vision for MasterCard's travel business. Key qualifications include:
• Deep Travel Industry Expertise: Proven experience working with airlines, OTAs, hospitality, or other travel-related verticals, with a strong understanding of industry challenges and business models.
• Payments & Fintech Acumen: Strong grasp of payments, financial services, and digital transformation in the travel ecosystem.
• Commercial & Strategic Vision: Ability to define and execute global travel strategies, build high-value partnerships, and drive commercial success.
• Matrix Organization Experience: Ability to work in a complex, global environment, influencing stakeholders across multiple regions and business units.
• Innovation & Problem-Solving Mindset: Experience in launching new products and solutions in industries built on legacy systems, overcoming barriers to innovation.
• Public Representation & Thought Leadership: Experience representing an organization at global industry events, conferences, and executive-level engagements.
• Strong Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence both internal teams and external partners, advocating for MasterCard's value proposition in the travel sector.
• Global Perspective & Cultural Awareness: Experience working across multiple regions, understanding market dynamics, and tailoring strategies to regional nuances.
