Title and Summary

Vice President, Product Development Overview:

Provides design specifications for and develops new products and services or their components. Defines functional and technical requirements. Researches new technologies and competitive products to develop additional enhancements. Defines business and technical requirements and manages the relationships of technical resources and the Global Technology Organization to maintain and build out platforms

Role:
• Lead the design and development of new products; establish required partnerships to bring new products to market
• Ensure appropriate use of and compliance with the New Product Development/Go-To-Market (NPD/GTM) Process from concept through launch
• Direct the development of product specifications and development plans with input from client facing teams, internal development teams, third parties or joint ventures
• Direct the interface with technical developers to translate product requirements into technical specifications ensuring mutual understanding and minimizing time to market
• Educate Product Management, Product Sales and Account Management teams on features, benefits and technical aspects of product offerings
• Performs launch-related activities associated with new or highly customized product implementations

Responsibilities:
• Owns New Product Development including partnering with cross-functional teams to design, develop and deliver new Products that drive incremental value for Mastercard
• Develops, evaluates and prioritizes Global and/or Regional product ideas, markets and opportunities and determines with which projects to initiate the development process
• Identifies and recommends new payments products, services, and capabilities in partnership with internal and external stakeholders at a global and regional level
• Leverages the Studio Framework to rapidly Frame ideas, and develop Concepts and Prototypes to validate whether a market opportunity can be effectively monetized by Mastercard
• Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders in Legal, Data Privacy, Delivery, Finance, Marketing, Sales, etc. to ensure that the new Product has a robust go-to-market plan focused on speed to market and ease of delivery
• Partner with Servicing teams (e.g. GCC, CTS, Biz Ops) to ensure that the new Product has a robust E2E servicing plan that enables a great end user and customer experience
• Partners with Product Management to Commercialize new Products, providing a seamless handover supported by a robust 18-month roadmap including CX, Revenue, and Product Quality enhancements
• Build high-performing teams and actively manage talent by continuously assessing talent needs against current capabilities, addressing any gaps with a combination of pro-active learning, talent moves and timely feedback
• Continually raise the bar with talent across the Product organization by a combination of hiring top new talent and actively growing existing talent (e.g. through participating in mentoring outside the Program)
• Navigate across cultures and geographies and leverages strong relationships with key groups across Mastercard to gain support and buy-in for key decisions
• Emulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviours through their behaviour, recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement.
• Drive institutionalized knowledge through the use of consistent documentation (e.g., support documents) across all processes to support knowledge management and ensure consistency and repeatability across projects

All About You:
• Detailed knowledge of the payments business coupled with the ability to translate customers' needs into product designs
• In-depth experience managing design and development of new card programs, including leading successful card product development and launch
• Deep understanding of the product development life cycle and product management principles
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player in a highly matrixed environment across functions and regions
• Ability to interact and navigate effectively across all organizational levels

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree desirable Knowledge / Experience
• Minimum of 10 years related business experience in product conceptualization, design and development
