Overview
Global Acceptance Solutions is seeking a VP, Emerging Markets Solutions to lead the product function of various Mastercard initiatives in the emerging markets acceptance space. The ideal candidate is passionate about the space, has a strong track record of creating product strategy, and developing and launching products to target underpenetrated markets to drive relevance, value and scale. The role requires a strong analytical / strategic skillset and deep understanding of market / consumer trends and go-to-market discipline to drive strategy adoption at scale in collaboration with regional product teams, markets and cross functional teams.

The VP will execute against an ambitious Emerging Markets vision to Make Mastercard (a) the Best Way to Pay in Emerging Markets, (b) the best payment solution provider for Mobile Operators, for banks scaling in Emerging Markets, (c) the most convenient and scalable payment solution for P2M (paying a merchant, utility provider, government) or P2P (paying a friend, family or to get paid) and (d) relevant and scaled in the 100+ countries where innovation may have jumped plastic card and POS machine.

Responsibilities:
Build the strategy of Emerging Markets Solutions to empower Mastercard to be the heart of electronic payments in emerging markets by establishing a shared vision across the company and by influencing and building consensus among the various stakeholders.
• Represent Acceptance Solutions in supporting the management of strategic investments in Emerging Markets
• Accountable for defining the product strategy for Wallet segment and QR, owning the product and capability development roadmap.
• Lead cross-functional teams of Product Managers in the ideation, definition, design, and development of innovative solutions to meet the needs of merchants and consumers aligned to strategic roadmap.
• Evaluate the business value of solution concepts for Mastercard and its customers by analyzing different markets and segments to understand the gaps in our product set and develop products and solutions to reach 1) relevance, 2) scalability and 3) competitive advantage. With a particular lens to the unique nature and opportunities of the value chain and ecosystem in emerging markets.
• Partner with the regional Product and Market Development teams and other key internal stakeholders, including CSCs, Account Management, Business Development, Expert Sales, Customer Delivery, Marketing on existing and available products and solutions to scale and improve them.
• Analyse best practices, support the markets with techniques and proven methods to scale the products faster.
• Provide thought leadership including monitoring emerging market trends, developments, threats and opportunities to peers and senior leaders across the organization and influence the product roadmaps and new product development.
• Stay informed of the overall market landscape, including competitors and develop potential partnerships by working with commercialization team.
• Engage customers/partners in strategic dialogue and partnerships covering the full spectrum of Mastercard (MA) assets, capabilities, and solutions.
• Act as internal and external subject matter expert representing Mastercard publicly in speaking engagements and the press.
• Serve as the expert and advocate for the business segment to identify and understand the opportunities, challenges, and potential partner priorities to establish mutually beneficial partnerships/ relationships

Knowledge/Experience:
• 10-20 years of professional experience in senior leadership positions in new product development and management and client facing consulting.
• Extensive knowledge of building a global emerging market product strategy.
• In-depth knowledge of LATAM, Africa and Asia-Pacific markets preferably with local leadership experience in at least one of these regions.
• Proven success developing innovative payment solutions in at least one Emerging Market region.
• Strong track record of building and managing diverse teams and exerting influence, within a global complex matrix organization.
• Strong payment industry experience with prior track record of building/managing innovative payment products and products strategy.
• Evidence of thought leadership within the payments space in emerging markets
• Strong understanding of the emerging technologies, merchant needs and prevailing business models.
• Strong focus on consumer experience coupled with very strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

• High energy, can-do attitude, strong desire to succeed.
• Entrepreneurial – experience in both start up and corporate environment.
• Executive level presentation skills – must have persuasive “presence” and ability to effectively communicate the emerging market proposition both internally and externally.
• Leadership skills – must be able to influence others without reporting relationships.
• Ability to lead effectively as a brand ambassador for Mastercard in Emerging Markets
• Willingness to travel
