About the role:
Type: Full Time Salaried
Compensation: $130K (target salary)
Location: Fully Remote, must be in the United States
Hours: Full Time Days

What to Expect:
The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the organization's IT infrastructure to identify and respond to potential security threats. This role conducts regular security assessments, investigates incidents, and manages security tools to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The Cyber Security Analyst works proactively to detect vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and ensure that all systems, networks, and data remain secure from unauthorized access or breaches. Security environment is hybrid with co-locations and Azure cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Monitoring & Analysis:
- Continuously monitor the organization's IT infrastructure for potential security threats using various security tools and monitoring systems.
- Analyze network traffic, system logs, and alerts to identify suspicious activity or vulnerabilities.
- Investigate security incidents and provide a detailed analysis of the root cause, impact, and mitigation steps.
- Incident Response & Investigation:
- Act as the first responder to security incidents, ensuring quick resolution and minimizing potential damage.
- Conduct forensic analysis and investigations of security breaches or incidents.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to respond to and recover from cyberattacks or breaches.
- Vulnerability Detection & Risk Mitigation:
- Perform regular vulnerability scans and security assessments to detect potential weaknesses in IT systems.
- Evaluate and apply security patches, updates, and configurations to reduce vulnerabilities.
- Recommend and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies to protect systems from potential threats.
- Security Tools Management:
- Manage and configure security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), antivirus, and endpoint protection.
- Ensure security tools are updated and properly configured to protect against evolving threats.
- Monitor and test the effectiveness of security tools and recommend improvements as needed.
- Compliance & Policy Enforcement:
- Ensure that IT infrastructure and processes comply with internal security policies and external regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct audits and provide regular reporting to ensure compliance and highlight areas for improvement.
- Security Awareness & Training:
- Collaborate with the IT and HR teams to conduct security awareness training for employees.
- Promote best practices in cybersecurity, including proper use of passwords, email security, and data protection measures.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of security incidents, resolutions, and recommendations.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, trends, and compliance status for management review.
- Keep records of vulnerability assessments, security patching activities, and audit results.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Work with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and risk management, to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of IT operations.
- Stay informed of the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and best practices.
- Continuously improve security processes and adapt to emerging threats.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in IT security, cybersecurity, or related fields.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud security, with a focus on Azure.
- Strong understanding of Azure security services and features (e.g., Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure AD).
- Proven experience with security monitoring tools, incident response, and vulnerability assessments.
- Certifications:
- Industry certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA Security+ are preferred.
- Azure Security Engineer Associate) is a plus.
Competencies/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus, and encryption.
- Experience in security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and incident response.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess and mitigate risks.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing security risks.
