Job Summary

Sr Product Owner 

**Preferred experience with AI and emerging technologies in a functional product role

The Senior Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering digital product capabilities (e.g. external portals, internal applications, emerging technologies etc.) for the assigned business unit, creating measurable business and customer value. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholders, technology partners, project/program leadership, and cross functional teams to define product vision, translate needs into actionable work, and ensure successful delivery and adoption

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for maintaining prioritized product roadmaps and backlogs based on measurable value, strategic alignment, dependencies, and effort. Collaborates with leadership, stakeholders, and technology partners to define and continuously refine the product vision and roadmap. Ensures alignment between business goals, user needs, operational priorities, and enterprise strategy.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between business and technical teams. Leads sessions with business partners to gather, refine, and validate goals, ensuring alignment across multiple stakeholder groups. Translates these objectives into well-structured product goals and user stories with clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Works closely with project team, project management office, change management, and technical delivery teams to establish and coordinate timelines and support user readiness, ensuring timely achievement of goals and effective organizational adoption.
  • Measures and assesses performance metrics, customer feedback, operational performance, and business value realization.
  • Actively participates in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and more.
  • Communicates issues, risks, decisions, and updates to cross-functional stakeholders consistently and effectively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Analytics, or related field. Master's Degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Equivalent education and experience directly related to the role may substitute for a degree.
  • 5 or more years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or equivalent progressive experience, preferably within the health insurance industry
  • 3 years experience influencing cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders, including senior project leadership and vendor partners.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile development environment, working with cross functional teams.
  • Proven expertise working with and influencing stakeholders to understand business goals and make conscientious decisions in alignment with strategy.

Professional Certification(s):

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar industry recognized certification preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification preferred.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of various product management practices, user story creation, backlog management, and prioritization.
  • Knowledge of project management and process improvement methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
  • Knowledge of health insurance operations.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively. Including strong proficiency with PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various levels of the organization.
  • Maintains a strong outcomes-oriented mindset, ensuring product efforts drive measurable business value
