Job Summary:      

Applies corporate policies for payroll and expense report reimbursements, interprets Fair Labor Standards Act and applies Generally Accepted Accounting principles to all payroll functions.  Coordinates the payroll accounting function and payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate payrolls.  Oversees the relationship between the Company and the external tax service in handling all federal, state and local payroll tax compliance.  Supervises the Payroll Administrators.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the bi-weekly payroll processing function. Reviews, audits and reconciles all documentation.  Oversees input and transmission of payroll, wage and deduction information. Manages preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
  • Assists Payroll Manager as needed. Analyzes month and year-end processing for income inclusions.  Processes executive compensation and special pay runs. Serves on special projects and backs up Manager.
  • Researches tax issues and analyzes tax reports. Manages federal, tax, and local payroll tax compliance with external tax service.  Reconciles and prepares funding documents for payroll taxes, Completes new tax applications and setting up in the payroll system.
  • Coordinates all payroll accounting. Reconciles general ledger accounts, makes necessary journal entries and audits accounts. Researches discrepancies, and prepares reports.
  • Acts as lead trainer on payroll-related functions. Trains verifiers on expense report policies. Trains the general employee population on using Kronos and Payroll self service.
  • Manages CLIC short-term disability compliance which includes the analysis and audit of data; Federal Form 940 filing; and processing and funding bi-weekly tax payments. Completes annual analysis and reconciliation of SSA & IRS reports.
  • Supervises and backs up the payroll administrators.
  • Assists internal and external audits.
  • Implements HR benefits into the system and maintains 401(k) employee/employer limits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred, but will consider collective experience, training and education.
  • 3 years experience as a Payroll Administrator or the equivalent.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting theory and practice as well as with tax compliance issues.
  • Ability to interpret and apply tax law knowledge to different situations.
  • Intermediate MS Office Skills including MS Access.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies for payroll and expense report reimbursements; Fair Labor Standards Act and GAAP as applied to payroll functions.
  • Knowledge of 401(k) policies and limits and HR benefits.
