Critical Care Nurse Practitioner – CVICU

MedStar Medical Group is seeking a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner to join the CVICU team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Practice within MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, a nationally recognized destination for cardiovascular surgery and a key hospital within the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, caring for critically ill cardiovascular surgery patients with meaningful autonomy in a collaborative, well-supported multidisciplinary environment.
Position Highlights
- Practice within an 8-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Care for critically ill patients following complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
- Perform comprehensive critical care assessments and patient management
- Perform advanced bedside procedures, including intubation, ventilator management, central and arterial line placement, dialysis catheter insertion, chest tubes, and thoracentesis
- Flexible scheduling with a day/night rotating schedule or dedicated nocturnist position
- Combination of 12- and 24-hour shifts
- Collaborative team of 10 APPs and 6 physicians
- Practice with a high degree of autonomy utilizing cutting-edge technology

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited AGACNP program
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Board certified or board eligible
- Maryland licensure (or eligibility)
- Minimum of one year of Advanced Practice Provider experience in an ICU, CVICU, Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology or Critical Care setting required.
- New graduates are not eligible for this position
