Endocrine Surgeon – MedStar Washington Hospital Center
Position Summary
MedStar Medical Group is seeking a board-certified Endocrine Surgeon to join our established and highly regarded endocrine surgery program based at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) in Washington, D.C.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a surgeon with 3–5 years of clinical experience who is looking to grow within a high-volume, multidisciplinary academic environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the full spectrum of endocrine surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic approaches to adrenal disease.

Program Highlights
- Established, fellowship-trained endocrine surgery team focused exclusively on thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disease
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with endocrinology, oncology, radiology, and pathology
- Access to advanced imaging, intraoperative adjuncts, and robotic platforms
- Participation in resident and medical student education within an academic teaching environment
- Strong referral base across the MedStar Health system
Primary Responsibilities
The Endocrine Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical care, including:
Clinical Care
- Deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient surgical care for endocrine diseases
- Perform procedures including:
- Thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy
- Adrenalectomy (including robotic adrenal surgery)
- Minimally invasive and advanced endocrine procedures
- Provide consultative services and perioperative management
- Participate in call coverage and emergency surgical care as appropriate
Program Development & Collaboration
- Collaborate with endocrinologists and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Contribute to growth and development of the endocrine surgery program
- Support access, throughput, and clinical standardization across sites
Academic & Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in teaching of residents and medical students
- Engage in quality improvement, research, and/or clinical program development
- Support administrative and operational initiatives within the division
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of General Surgery residency and Endocrine Surgery fellowship
- Board-certified in General Surgery
- Eligible for medical licensure in Washington, D.C.
- 3–5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience with robotic adrenal surgery strongly preferred
