About the Job

MedStar Health is seeking a Board-Certified Nuclear Medicine Physician to join our dedicated seven-physician Nuclear Medicine group at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. This is a unique opportunity to practice 100% Nuclear Medicine within one of the largest and most specialized Nuclear Medicine programs in the Mid-Atlantic. As part of MedStar Medical Group Radiology, you'll join a premier physician-led practice of more than 120 radiologists serving Maryland and the Washington, D.C. region while maintaining an exclusive focus on Nuclear Medicine.

Unlike many organizations, this position does not require any general diagnostic radiology responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to build your career exclusively within Nuclear Medicine while working alongside colleagues who share the same specialty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret a full spectrum of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging studies, including PET/CT and SPECT/CT
  • Interpret advanced PET imaging studies, including Cardiac PET, Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET), and PSMA imaging
  • Perform and oversee diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical procedures, including theranostic treatments
  • Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, and referring physicians
  • Provide remote interpretation for MedStar hospitals throughout the region while maintaining a primary practice location at MedStar Washington Hospital Center

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine required. Board Eligible candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis based on training and references
  • Dedicated Nuclear Medicine physicians strongly preferred
  • Five years of post-graduate experience preferred; exceptional recent graduates with strong exposure to advanced PET imaging, molecular imaging, and high-complexity case volumes from reputable training programs will also be considered
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland and Washington, D.C.

 

Call

  • Shared call schedule across a dedicated team of seven Nuclear Medicine physicians
  • Weekend call runs from Friday evening through Monday morning
  • Weekday call consists of single overnight shifts
  • Call responsibilities are evenly distributed across the group, averaging just over 50 call days per physician annually, including approximately 7–8 weekends per year
  • All call is taken remotely using a home workstation, allowing physicians to provide coverage from home
