About the Job

General Summary of Position
Responsible for patient assessment pre and intra procedural care of patients undergoing invasive procedures or sedation in the Department of Radiology. This is accomplished according to an established plan of care under the direction of the Director of Operations and Radiology Nurse Coordinator in charge of Nursing who is a licensed Registered Nurse. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.

 

Schedule

Monday-Friday, rotating Saturdays, Three-12hr shifts per week 8:30am to 9:00 PM, plus occasional call. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

Working with both inpatient and outpatient

  • Monitoring patients undergoing MRI scans, including patients with cardiac devices + those who require pain/anxiety management to tolerate
  • Monitoring patient under going CTAs, diamox studies, urograms, etc. 
  • Coordinating with scheduling of other departments and out patients  prior to day of procedure to ensure safe + smooth patient appointments (ex: patients with contrast allergies/needed medications held or taken)
  • Monitoring patients across radiology, as needed; including patients receiving general anesthesia or high-risk medications (chemotherapy, blood products, vasoactive drips, etc.)
  • Administering medications needed for radiology appointments
  • Establishing IV/mediport access for patients
  • Covering in main IR as needed. 

 

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing. required

Experience

  • 1-2 years experience preferable ICU IR ED or PACU required

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • Health Services\ACLS within 180 Days required
  • Health Services\PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition invasive pressure monitoring conscious sedation emergency care and comprehensive assessment skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
