About the Job

General Summary of Position

Responsible for patient assessment pre and intra procedural care of patients undergoing invasive procedures or sedation in the Department of Radiology. This is accomplished according to an established plan of care under the direction of the Director of Operations and Radiology Nurse Coordinator in charge of Nursing who is a licensed Registered Nurse. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.

Position Responsibilities

 

As an Interventional Radiology Nurse Specialist, you will provide skilled, patient-centered care throughout the procedural experience.

  • Performing comprehensive pre-procedural assessments
  • Preparing patients for a wide range of minimally invasive interventions
  • Providing continuous patient monitoring during procedures
  • Administering moderate sedation under physician guidance in accordance with hospital policies
  • Recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality care
  • Recovery care is provided by a dedicated Procedural PACU team, allowing nurses to focus on delivering exceptional procedural care.

Schedule

 

Four 10-hour shifts per week + Call

Minimal Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing. required

Experience

  • 1-2 years experience required. IR, Cath Lab, ICU, ED preferable 

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • Health Services\ACLS within 180 Days required
  • Health Services\PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition invasive pressure monitoring conscious sedation emergency care and comprehensive assessment skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $42.00 - USD $69.42 /Hr.
