In the PACU, every day is fast-paced and dynamic. You will work alongside a team of highly trained clinicians, supporting patients from routine procedures to complex surgical cases. Your expertise will ensure the highest standards of safety, comfort, and patient-centered care.
What You'll DoProvide expert post-operative nursing care to patients with a wide range of acuity levels.
Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions.
Serve as a patient advocate, communicating clearly with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately to guide ongoing care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and patient safety programs.
Mentor and support new team members through orientation and ongoing professional development.
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. If prepared at the associate level, enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire and completion within 4 years is required.
Experience: Prior clinical nursing experience preferred, especially in perioperative or acute care settings.
Licensure and Certifications: Active RN license in the District of Columbia (DC is not part of the compact).
BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
Additional specialty certifications may apply depending on department requirements.
