About the Job

General Summary of Position
Reporting to the Manager Preoperative Supply Chain or assigned manager the Supervisor Cart Technicians oversees the Case Cart Technicians and is responsible for supervising all procedure case pick related activities in support of the daily Operating Room surgical schedule.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Supervises and monitors the preparation and delivery of completed case carts from preference card pick lists for patient/procedure specific surgical cases including add on case carts according to departmental standards.
  • Communicates with appropriate OR staff regularly; monitors changes in OR schedule related to room changes procedure changes and add-ons to direct case cart technicians; ensures that proper supplies for each case are picked and delivered as needed.
  • Coordinates instrument needs with SPD leadership to ensure carts are completed.
  • Functions as departmental shift point of contact for case related supply issues and communicates appropriately.
  • Conducts case pick accuracy audits on a daily basis.
  • Monitors work of Case Cart Technicians and their shift productivity using appropriate form
  • Initiates daily case pick completion status update & communicates prior to end of shift.
  • Monitors pick lists to identify par location inaccuracies & undefined locations & reports to leadership.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel per unit policy.
  • Supervises the shift activities of the Preoperative Supply Chain

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required or
  • equivalent required and
  • Associate's degree in healthcare preferred or
  • supply chain related course work preferred

Experience

  • 3-4 years Surgical case cart preparation and/or sterile processing experience in a surgical setting required

Licenses and Certifications

  • CMRP - Certified Materials & Resource Professional Healthcare Materiel Management Certification within 180 Days required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Two to three years progressive healthcare experience in a surgical setting or sterile processing environment specific to the surgical procedure case picking process.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and uses surgical procedure terminology surgical supplies and their usage.
  • Working knowledge of various surgical instrument inventory tracking software.
  • Experience with computerized inventory management systems and/or surgical preference card management is preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $59,820.00 - USD $101,836.00 /Yr.
