Description
Identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients by utilizing the Cancer Registry data system. Analyzes registry data and disseminates information in accordance with professional ethics. Coordinates hospital cancer program activities.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology required and
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred
- 2 years related medical record or oncology experience, preferably in a hospital setting preferred
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification required or
- eligibility for RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification preferred and
- CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) within 1 year of hire required
- Working knowledge of various computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, data abstracting programs, and conventional medical record coding systems.
