
Description
The individual will act as the interpreting services dispatcher for the department. They will be responsible for fielding incoming calls/requests and dispatching various interpreters as needed. Additionally, they will create schedules of requested patient needs; such as, surgical procedures, inpatient encounters, outpatient encounters, labor and delivery, Trauma, ED, mental health, etc. where an interpreter is required. They will manage calendars/ schedules for interpreters in the department assigning them to specific interpreting encounters. They will also answer email requests and coordinate between vendor/agency interpreters and staff interpreters. They will also provide a variety of high-level clerical support to the department manager, the department, and/or other department professionals.
Education
- Associate's degree required
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
- 1-2 years clerical experience preferred or
- 1-2 years Interpreting Scheduling Experience preferred or
- 1-2 years Previous experience with medical clerical work preferred
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills, and good telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform in a high pressure environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of different individuals.
- Excellent typing skills.
- Working knowledge of various computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Products
