MedStar Health is looking for a Medical Imaging Technologist PRN to join our team! We are looking for an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registered individual with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of customers.
This is a skilled professional position that provides health care services, applying x-ray energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation or intervention by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor, Manager, or the Director of M.I.

Primary Duties:
Operates and documents all aspects of Radiology. Verifies procedure preparation has been performed, the patient has consented to the procedure, and fully understands its risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up. Provides patient information pertinent to the exam being performed. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Practice aseptic techniques, as necessary. Selects and operates imaging equipment. Monitors patient during procedure. Follows established protocols and produces accurate results. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and image labeling. Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
Participates in data collection for department's quality assessment and improvement plan. Reports equipment failure/problems. Assists in training and education of employees, physicians, students and/or other healthcare professionals. Provides input for hire or new employee through peer interview process. Provides patient education as needed. Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions. Access, manipulate, store, and create CD's from PACS. Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes equipment before and after each procedure. Restocks and requests room supplies that need to be replenished. Checks drug supplies and reports what needs to be re-stocked.
Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and attends continuing education programs. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time. Participates in inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate.
Responsible for following all protocols to ensure optimum image quality. Transport stable unmonitored patients to and from Ultrasound procedures. Administers contrast media and or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Able to utilize film cassettes with wet processing if computer systems are down. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic, specialized interventional procedures. May perform non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures. Assist M.I. front desk in answer phones, signing out image CD's, processing paperwork and scheduling procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Radiology.
1-2 years' experience in a hospital setting.
ARRT.
CPR.
Experience with RIS/PACS is preferred.
